Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a initial session?

You can use the Contact page, or email me directly at theo@drtheopsychology.co.uk to arrange a consultation call.

What is a consultation call?

This is a short, 15-20 minute telephone or video call which gives you a chance to share a little of what brings you to therapy and to ask me any questions. This call also allows me to assess whether I'm best placed to support you.

How long is a therapy session?

Sessions last 50-60 minutes.

For EMDR, we typically schedule 90 minutes for processing sessions.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies from person to person. Some people find what they need in a handful of sessions; others prefer ongoing, longer-term support. We'll check in regularly about how things are progressing and adjust as needed.

This may also depend on your health insurance provider and how many sessions they approve.

How often are therapy sessions?

Most clients start with weekly sessions, especially at the beginning as this tends to build momentum. Over time, sessions can move to fortnightly or monthly as you feel ready, or if this fits better with your schedule.

Is everything I say confidential?

Yes. What you share in therapy is confidential, with a few exceptions — for example, if there's a risk of serious harm to you or someone else. These limits will be explained clearly before we begin.

How much do you charge for sessions?

The fee for sessions is £120.

Do you accept health insurance?

Yes, I work with a number of different health insurance providers including WPA, Bupa, AXA and Aviva.

If you would like to pay using health insurance, you will first need to obtain a pre-authorisation code from them.

Do you work online or face to face?

Both! I work from a bright and airy clinic room between Finsbury Park and Holloway Road. I also offer sessions online with Google Meet and if needed, we can use a hybrid model with a mix of in-person and online sessions.

In-person sessions are available on Fridays, 9-5pm.

Online sessions are available on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm or 7:30pm.
